Cool and dilute cautiously with water. Transfer to a 250 ml centrifuge tube and dilute to 100 ml with water. Place the centrifuge tube in an ice bath and add ammonia (sp. gr. 88) slowly with stirring until the solution is alkaline to litmus (Note 2). Add 5 ml of 100 vol. HfcOa and stir for 5 min. Centrifuge for 5 min at 1500 rpm. Decant the supernatant through a Whatman 40 filter paper. Wash the precipitate with 2 % NH4C1 solution, centrifuge, and decant the supernatant through the filter paper.
